The Vertical Urbanism of Generative Networks
This project questions the continued existence of Flat Urbanism throughout the world, especially at this critical moment in urbanism wherein density is becoming necessary and desirable in urban centres around the world. In opposition to Flat Urbanism -the creation of cities through vertical extrusion of 2D plans- this project seeks a new strategy of Vertical Urbanism based on a generative vertical network created through a parametric design process. While the project is without site, it has been tested on l'île Notre Dame in Montréal, as it is an artificial landscape expressly built for the purpose of experimentation, notably the 1967 World Expo. This project raises the question: How can high-density high-rise architecture itself become a strategy for an open-ended, three-dimensional vertical urban form: a Vertical Urbanism?

L'Urbanisme verticale : La ville d'un réseau génératif
Ce projet questionne l'existence de la stratégie de " Flat Urbanism " à travers le monde, surtout à ce moment critique de l'urbanisme dont la densité est devenue nécessaire et désirable dans les centres urbains. En opposition au "Flat Urbanism", ville bidimensionnelle extrudée verticalement, ce projet cherche une nouvelle stratégie d'urbanisme basée sur des réseaux génératifs créé par un processus de design paramétré.  La stratégie de design développée à priori sans site, se déploie et s'adapte dans une seconde étape sur l'île Notre Dame à Montréal, toujours un lieu d'expérimentation architecturale depuis 1967.
