Maurice Martel

Biography

Maurice Martel graduated from Laval University in Quebec city with a master’s degree in architecture. Characterized by the excellence of his academic profile and achievements, he won several awards and a prestigious grant among all Quebec schools of architecture.

Martel worked on eminent projects in the United States and Canada. He collaborated with several renowned European firms as Zaha Hadid, Servo, NL Architects and Veech Media Architecture. Martel also co-founded Open Form Architecture in 2005. The members of Open Form Architecture have collaborated with architects like Ramoisy Tremblay Architects since 2001.

Maxime Moreau

Maxime Moreau

Biography

Born in Montréal, Canada, Maxime Moreau studied architecture at Université Laval and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne and received his Master in Architecture from Université de Montréal in 2005. Maxime has been recognized and awarded for his work across the fields of architecture. In 2005, he was awarded with the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada Student Medal for the excellence and outstanding final design project / thesis and received the Cardinal-Hardy scholarship to study the evolution of the image, identity and integration of residential structures in Los Angeles

Maxime’s work is heavily influenced by cultural processes, communication and representation, technologies and programming, dynamic systems, self-organizing structures, and computational geometries, and most importantly through collaborative questioning, challenging and creation.

Having worked on multi-disciplinary projects across North America Maxime brings a broad perspective and a high level of criticism. Besides, he has a long history of initiating projects through strong leadership. While studying in the Master’s program at the Université de Montréal, he cofounded Open Form Architecture with Maurice Martel and Darrel Ronald.

Darrel Ronald

Darrel Ronald

Biography

Darrel Ronald is a Canadian born (1977) architect and urbanist based in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He has been recognized and awarded for his work across the fields of photography, writing and architecture. Darrel has studied photography and worked as an editor in newspaper publishing before completing professional degrees in Architecture. Having worked on multi-disciplinary projects across North America and Europe, he brings a broad perspective and a high level of criticism.

Darrel has a long history of initiating projects through strong leadership. During his Bachelor's degree, he was awarded a Faculty of Architecture Endownment Fund from the University of Manitoba (CA) to start a new publication titled the AUM Design Extra. He later cofounded Open Form Architecture / L'Architecture Open Form with Maxime Moreau and Maurice Martel while studying in the Master's program at the Université de Montréal (CA). The office has continued to win design awards in Canada, The United States and Europe. And in Rotterdam (NL) he has recently cofounded Dysturb.Net with architects Thomas Stellmach, Martin Sobota and Claudia Strahl.

Darrel's work is heavily influenced by cultural processes, communication and representation, technology and programming, geometry and structure, and most importantly through collaborative questioning, challenging and creation. While completing a Master's degree, he worked for a media research group, MedialabAU, at the Université de Montréal, and was a Master's studio assistant, especially guiding students through new technologies and software applications during the design process.

Since joining Maxwan architects + urbanists office in Rotterdam, Darrel quickly became project leader and has just finished leading the office's largest masterplan to date, Project A101, a new city for 320.000 inhabitants on the periphery of Moscow, Russia.
